Requirements of a Mercy Soup Kitchen Volenteer

We need volunteers who are willing to work hard and can come to the soup kitchen consistently one day a week every week. We offer flexible hours Monday to Friday between 7:30 AM and 2:00 PM depending on your availability and what you will be doing.

Cooks arrive at 7:30 AM, salad makers around 9:00 AM, dining room staff and servers around 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM - Monday to Friday.

We open the dining room door to serve our guests from 11:30 AM to 1:00PM.

All volunteers pitch in to help clean up by 2:00 PM which includes cleaning ovens and the stove, washing the pots, pans, and serving trays, as well as cleaning other equipment. All serving and prep surfaces must be wipe down clean, We properly handle garbage, and flatten the cardboard boxes that shall be placed in the cardboard bin outside every day.  

The best way to see how we operate and where your skill, experience, and desire to serve fits in with our mission is to visit us between 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM, Monday - Friday  for a tour of our operation.
