There Are So Many Meaningful Ways To Help Those In Need Within Our Community.
Dear Friends,
We have been experiencing a significant increase in the number of people needing our help.
Last month we served 3,176 complete nutritious hot meals. That’s an average of 151 hot meals a day. Our cafeteria serving line always offers meat, starch "(rice, potatoes, pasta, etc.), and vegetables prepared in our kitchen by our talented volunteer cooks. Next comes the green salad, then the fruit salad, followed by dessert coffee and a cold drink. And of course, what soup kitchen meal would be complete without the hot satisfying soup made fresh every day by our proud soup specialists.
In addition to the hot meals, we serve an equal number of extra meals for our guests to share with their families, consisting of sandwiches and other optional fresh and packaged food items that our guests select on their way out of the dining room.
About half of our guests chose to eat a meal in the dining room while others chose to take their meals to go.
Your generous support is appreciated and has enabled us to continue our mission for the past 43 years.
How can you help?
There are several ways to run a food drive.
Supermarket Food Drive:
Get permission from the store manager.
Stand out front and explain to customers on their way into the supermarket
that you are collecting food for the Mercy Soup Kitchen.
Collect their donations on their way out of the supermarket. Bring the items collected to the soup kitchen.
The best hours for a supermarket food drive are from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday or Sunday.

Organizing A Group
There are many ways to help individually or by organizing a group.
Making sandwiches is one of them, also food drives and fund raisers.
We do not need any more peanut butter & jelly sandwiches.
Meat and/or cheese sandwiches are preferable such as
ham and cheese, turkey, bologna with or without cheese, and plain cheese.
One teenager makes pound cakes for us, others make cookies.
We would be happy to discuss any ideas.
Fundraisers
Fundraisers can take many forms from dinner dances, simple raffles, fifty-fifty or in many cases a combination of all these.
Our most popular fundraiser is “Night at the Races”.
Simply ask members of your group to donate to the Mercy Soup Kitchen.
Solicit sponsors and conduct walks or runs.
We would be happy to discuss any ideas.
Food Drive
We welcome and appreciate any assistance you can provide to help us effectively feed the less fortunate members of our community. Your support plays a vital role in our efforts to ensure that everyone has access to nutritious meals.
